Hello family and friends,
Week 2 was a lot better than week one, and now I only
have one week to go! This past week was awesome, me and Elder Lemon committed 2
of our investigators to baptism, the days here are pretty routine, eat, sit,
eat, sit, eat, sit. So not much to report on, however in the new MTC buildings
there are rooms with 2 way glass mirrors like interrogation rooms from tv
shows, me and Elder Lemon were teaching our investigator Sam, who if you
remember had distanced himself from the gospel right before he was about to be
baptized. Anyway our whole class and our teacher was behind the glass watching
us teach, and in that lesson we committed him to baptism. it was awesome we
reminded him that the Saviors atonement makes up for everything and that as we
come closer to Christ, Christ will come closer to us. He is just waiting for us
to show forth some faith and come unto him. When we were done our whole
district was super pumped and our teacher told us that it was the most purpose
centered lesson he'd ever seen at the MTC, we felt pretty good after that.
Sunday night we watched an old MTC devotional by Elder Holland called missions
are forever. It is such a good video, Holland talks about how we need to teach
with power and authority and we already have the authority because weve been
set apart as missionaries, but the power comes from our obedience. Another
quote I like he said, "the reason its hard(meaning missions) is because
salvation was not a cheap experience." he also said that a lot of missionaries
spend too much time thinking about what "real life" will be like when
we get home, then he basically yelled that "YOUR MISSION IS REAL
LIFE" gotta love Elder Holland. It
was good though, because I had been thinking about that as well and it was a wake
up call. I was reading in 3rd Nephi chapter 13 verse 33 and 34 which says.
"But seek ye
first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be
added unto you.
Take no thought for the morrow, for the morrow shall take
thought for the things of itself. Sufficient is the day unto the evil
thereof."
I really think that scripture pertains to missions, seek
the kingdom of God, and the building of the kingdom and all these things shall
be added unto you. Elder McArthur
